Associate of Applied Science
The associate degree in the Flight Training option is being offered as a partnership
with the Community College of Baltimore County Catonsville Campus (CCBC) and
is designed to prepare students to apply technical knowledge and skills to the
flying of commercial, corporate, or private airplanes, and to prepare students
to sit for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) written and practical exams
for Private Pilot (ASEL); Commercial Pilot Certificate (ASEL) and Instrument
Rating. In order to complete the program, every student must successfully pass
the FAA Private, Commercial, and Instrument computer examinations and be certified
as a commercial pilot with instrument rating. Students who receive this degree
from Cecil College and desire to transfer to another institution for
completion of a four-year degree should consult an advisor and the catalog for
the institution to which they plan to transfer to determine specific requirements.
The College maintains an Aviation Advisory Board consisting of professionals
from various facets of the aviation industry including airport management, corporate
aviation, military aviation, and the air carrier industry.
Program Eligibility Criteria: Admission to the program requires a high school
diploma with one year of algebra. High school courses in trigonometry and physics
are an advantage. Students must submit an FAA Second Class Medical Certificate
to the Director of MATLI prior to acceptance into the Flight Training Concentration
(AVMT courses) portion of the program.
